At a time some Nigerian musical artists are leaving the country in droves, one singer who is determined to prove that there’s an exception to every rule is Nwaka Chiyem Olawale, otherwise known as DJ Walz.
The UK-based producer and instrumentalist said his decision to return to Nigeria stems from his belief in the country’s music industry.
The crowd-puller DJ emphasized that he is back home to take over Afrobeats in the country and give it a new identity.
DJ Walz said he has so much respect for Don Jazzy for all her has been doing for music in the country, but added that he intends to take Afrobeat to the next level.
“I am committed to discovering and promoting young Nigerian Afrobeat artists. My coming is to showcase what stuff I am made of and I tell you, I am surely going to leave an indelible mark. I am not competing with anybody, but I respect Don Jazzy; I aspire to do better and take over the Afrobeat music scene.”
