North doesn’t like Obi, won’t vote for him in 1000 elections- Buhari’s aide

Bashir Ahmed, a media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, has said the people of Northern Nigeria do not like Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 election, saying if the former Anambra State Governor contest more than 1000 times he would still not get the support of his region.

Ahmed, in an apparent reaction to Obi’s post in which he said he would take Nigeria out of poverty starting from the North, the media aide to the President said the majority of his people regarded the post as an insult to the region which further deepened belief that Labour Party’s candidate doesn’t like them.

On Wednesday, In a tweet he made in the Hausa language to conceal the meaning of his message from a non-Hausa speaking audience, Mr Bashir described Mr Obi as one who dislikes northerners.

A translation of Mr Bashir’s Hausa tweet reads: “Since Mr. Peter has clearly shown that he doesn’t like us, so we don’t like him either. If he stands for election 1000 times, we won’t vote for him 1000 times. We thank God for always showing us his character clearly.”
