Being dramatic doesn’t make me unfit to be governor- Dino Melaye

Dino Melaye, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State, has courted so much trouble with the dramatic way of doing things but the former Senator insisted that his side attraction doesn’t make him unfit to be governor.

Melaye is famed for his theatrics tendency, churning out different kinds of videos to either mock the opposition or project his own candidates and party.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers is one of those opposed to his candidacy of the PDP for Kogi governorship polls describing him as a joke taken too far.

However, Melaye dismissed criticisms that he was incompetent and unfit to hold an executive position just because of his dramatic nature.

“Today, I can decide to stay by the roadside, buy boli and laugh and dramatise. That has nothing to do with the effectiveness and productive level of Dino Melaye as a governor,” Mr Melaye posited.

The former lawmaker cited examples of a comedian and an actor who turned out to be president and governor in their respective countries.

“At one time, an actor was an effective governor in America, Arnold Schwarzenegger. We have seen a comedian become president in Ukraine, doing what generals cannot do.

“So Peoples side attraction should not be the measure for the level of their competence, capabilities and productivity. It is myopic,” Mr Melaye argued.
