Adamawa guber: INEC reports REC to Buhari

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reported the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Mallam Hudu Yunusa-Ari, to President Muhammadu Buhari.

The REC had violated the electoral process by declaring the results of Adamawa governorship election, against the INEC guideline, even while the collation was still going on.

The commission has since reversed the declaration and suspended the collation of the results. The REC has also been suspended.

The commission, which met on Tuesday, requested the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha, “to draw the attention of the  appointing authority to the unwholesome behaviour of the REC for further action.”

INEC in a statement on its verified Twitter handle, equally write the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba, to commence immediate investigation and possible prosecution of the REC.

The commission however, said “the collation process shall resume at a time to be determined by the returning officer.”
