Super Eagles gaffer, Jose Peseiro is spoiled for choice given the embarrassment of talents at his disposal.
But the Portuguese tactician could develop grey hair over who should be called up among strikers when Super Eagles resume hostilities for AFCON 2023 qualifiers.
One player that has continued to knock on Peseiro’s door is Union St Gilloise striker Victor Boniface who now joins Marcus Rashford at the top Europa League top scorers’ chat.
Boniface has scored six goals in the competition this season following his opener in the 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday night.
Besides, his performances in the Europa League has opened more door to a possible move to bigger clubs in Europe.
Remarkably, in the European games the striker has scored just one less than his league tally. In the Belgian Pro League, Boniface has seven goals in 29 games, 26 of which were starts. This is the best theson of his career, as while he was in Norway the striker’s highest goal tally was six. This came firstly in 2020 and then in 2022, with 2021 being blighted by injury.
It remains to be seen if Peseiro will give Osimhen a break and pave way for the duo of Chuba Akpom and Boniface to prove their mettle.
