Two men and a woman were detained by Kano state police on suspicion of coercing a 13-year-old Almajiri to consume human waste that had been thrown by an unidentified individual in the Ja’en Makera apartments in the Sharada neighborhood of Kano city on Thursday, April 13.
Mallam Kabiru, the victim’s father, who reported the incident to the police in Sharada, claimed that his son is so badly mistreated that after being made to ingest human feces, his attackers even gave him a bath in it. The youngster didn’t even know where he was when he was rushed to the hospital, according to DailyTrust.
The three guys were detained after the division’s DPO, CSO Abdurrahman, organized a team of investigators to look into the situation.
The youngster was accused of open defecation on their street, according to one of the almajiri school’s teachers, even though he was not the offender.
“They just saw faeces on their street around 9:30pm and they were searching for the person that did it. When the boy was passing by, a woman saw him and just said he was the one who did it. She held the boy and called the people. Immediately they came, they began to spray the toilet on his face and even forced him to eat it,” he said.
The three suspects are in police custody, and the victim is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital, according to SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, who confirmed the arrest. He continued by saying that an inquiry has been opened into the situation.
