Worshipper  stabbed outside church on Easter Sunday

After attending an Easter Sunday service, a worshipper was stabbed outside of a church in England.

Around 10.50 am, police were summoned to St. Stephen’s Church in Sneinton, Nottinghamshire, in response to reports of the attack.

The 20-year-old suspect, who had apparently gone to church there two or three times before, had been following people outside. Officers from Nottinghamshire Police detained the suspected attacker while the victim was transported to the hospital.

The man underwent surgery, and it is thought that his wounds are not life-threatening.

Lynda Blakeley, the curate at St. Stephen’s Church, expressed that the neighborhood was thinking of and praying for the victim.

Authorities stated that they do not believe the attack to be a hate crime, and the suspect is still being held.
DCI Mark Dickson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: ‘Officers were called to Dale Street, Sneinton on April 9 following reports of a serious assault.

‘Police arrested a 20-year-old man shortly after the incident on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and he remains in custody.

‘An investigation has since been launched to establish what happened and, despite the large police presence in the area, I’d like to reassure the public that there is no wider threat to the community.’
