Ohanaeze Ndigbo seeks Sanwo-Olu intervention in release of Eze Nwajagu

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State chapter has appealed to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to use his good office and secure the release of Eze Fredrick Nwajagu.

The chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, Sunday Ossai in a statement, asked the governor to deepen the cordial relationship that have existed between Yoruba and Igbo people for many decades by assisting in the release of Eze Nwajagu.

Ossai appealed the Governor Sanwo-Olu that Eze Igbo Ajao has in another viral video retracted his suggestion of inviting the Indigenious People of Biafra (IPOB) to Lagos to defend the lives and properties of Igbos.

He acknowledged that it is not only Igbos that were visited with election violence, other tribes witnessed it and had a fair share of the violence.

Ossai condemned all forms of aggressions and counter-aggressions expressed by very many people which Eze Igbo Ajao fell victim.

Consequently, Ossai also appealed to the Commissioner of Police in the state, to consider giving Eze Igbo Ajao an administrative bail in view of his failing health and especially when the offence committed is a bailable offence in the interest of justice.

Ossai also advised Sanwo-Olu to set up a peace and reconciliatory committee to look into all these issues with a view to bringing permanent peace and calm in Lagos State.

Speaking in the same vein, counsel to Eze Igbo Ajao, Mrs Agubuzor Nkechi, observed that her client had been in the custody  police for four days (92 hours) which she considers an infraction of the due legal procedure.

She said the continued detention is unlawful and quite discriminatory against the person of her client considering his health challenges.
