Portable to spend weekend in police cell after arrest

Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as Portable has been arrested by the men of the Ogun State Police Command for assaulting police officers at his bar on Tuesday.

His arrest followed a 72-hour ultimatum given to him by police authorities to turn himself up but sources said the Zazoo crooner failed to heed the order hence his eventual arrest on Friday.

Two videos surfaced on social media on Tuesday in which the singer was seen resisting arrest by the police. The musician claimed a fraudster invited the police to arrest him for no reason but the cops insisted they acted on a petition.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, had on Tuesday issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the singer to report to the station or he will be arrested.

The Force Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, subsequently issued a statement that Portable would be made to face the law for assaulting policemen who have come to carry out the lawful arrest.

Oyemi confirmed the arrest of the singer on Friday but sources said he would spend the weekend in police custody after which he would be charged to court.
