Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan gaffer, Gbenga Ogunbote is confident of his player’s ability to retain the momentum after Wednesday’s win over Plateau United Football Club.
He described their 3-2 win over Plateau United as a sign of greater things to come, adding that the entire backroom staff will continue to dig deeper into their technical books of tricks and come out with a winning formula every week.
“We now have the confidence to play and things can get better for us if we can win three to four matches in a row,” he said.
3SC defeated visiting Plateau United of Jos in their 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Group A Match Day 11 fixture.
In the game played at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, the visitors took the lead in the 25th minute after a long throw-in by Daniel Itodo was converted into goal by Yakubu Adams.
Samuel Ayanrinde’s brace in the 44th and 52nd minutes swung the game 3SC way, while Ghali Falke scored in the 60th minute to increase the tally to 3-1.
Jimmy Iteji reduced the tally in the third minute of final added time.
Ogunbote commended 3SC players for their commitment and dedication on the field of play, even as he admitted that the players were under pressure after they conceded in the first half.
“They are already trying to get it right. There was a free flow of balls during the game. But when you are not winning, it takes off your confidence.
“`However, the important thing is, there is nothing too special other than we are trying to get it right and things will soon improve,” he said.
