Niger State Governor-elect, Hon Umar Bago has on Thursday received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC Prof Ahmed Yusha’u Garki while Presenting the Certificate of Return to the Governor and Deputy Governor Elect, said INEC has delivered on its promise to the people of Niger State.
Garki described the election in the state as peaceful, transparent and good omen for the country.
According to him “today marks the climax of the 2023 general election as all candidates from the Governor-elect, Deputy Governor-Elect to Members-Elect of Niger State House of Assembly are certified by INEC as the Winners in the various electoral positions contested in the just concluded election in the State.
“Let me commend the hard work, sacrifices and commitment of many people especially the tireless commitment of our staff, both tenured and Ad-Hoc who endured all situations.
“We salute them and all our partners and collaborators especially the Security Agencies, all Civil Society Organisations, Political Parties, the Media community and everyone who played a role in the success of the election”.
He challenged the Governor elect, his Deputy and the House of Assembly Members to ensure at all times that the government of Niger State under their watch is conducted and anchored on transparency and responsibility to the people.
Responding after receiving his certificate of Return, the Governor Elect, Hon Bago appreciated the INEC for conducting transparent election in the State.
While disclosing that power is granted by God, he assured that he will priorities the security and welfare of the people.
He also commended Nigerlites for the trust on him, saying “I will never betray you, I will ensure good leadership and good governance”.
