The Falconets of Nigeria will be participating in the maiden edition of the U20 West After Football Union, WAFU Nations Cup which is due to place in Ghana later in the year, www.234sportsng.com reports.
The competition which will be hosted in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex will see the Nigeria U20 side take on their fellow WAFU Zone B counterparts.
The Nigeria team will trade tackles with maidens from Ghana, Togo Benin, Niger, Ivory Coast, and Burkinafaso for honors in the first edition. The secretariat of WAFU B confirmed that the biennial competition will kick off on May 20 and end on June 4, 2023.
The Falconets no doubt will be the team to beat as the team has dominated the continent and went on to represent Africa at every edition of the U20 FIFA Women’s World Cup winning the Silver medal twice and finishing in the quarter-final stage of the last edition held in Costa Rica in August 2022.
