The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has shut down Chiffy Supermarket, located in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) in Ikeja area of the state, for allegedly selling expired toothpaste and other household products.
The general manager, LASCOPA, Afolabi Solebo, the action became necessary to protect unsuspecting members of the public who may ignorantly buy such expired products for consumption.
Mr. Solebo had on Sunday responded to complaints made by customers on a consumer’s facebook post alerting the agency and the public on the sales of the expired products at Chiffy Supermarket in GRA Ikeja.
It was gathered that on arrival at the supermarket, the LASCOPA boss discovered that the toothpaste and other products found in the store had no price tags and were all expired.
He added that the dates found on them were discovered to have expired in August 2022, November 2022, January 2023 and were still being sold to unsuspecting members of the public.
