More revelation has emerged in the case involving a woman who was seen in a viral video brutalised by some police officers in Agbarho community in Delta State
The Delta State Police Command had ordered the arrest of the four police officers after videos of a lady being almost stripped naked were released online.
However, the command in a press statement on Tuesday said although the action of the policemen stands condemned, the true situation needs to be brought to the notice of the public.
The spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Bright Edafe said in the statement that, ‘’On 22nd March, 2023, one Thankgod James reported that the said woman smashed his vehicle windscreen and assaulted him, on the strength of this report, a woman police was sent to invite her, the suspect became aggressive assaulted the woman police, tore her clothes, so the policewoman called for reinforcement, when the reinforcement arrived, the woman again poured a pot of soup on one of the Policemen even while on the uniform. “While condemning the actions of the Policemen, and as the command has assured members of the public that they will be duly sanctioned, it’s also important for members of the public to behave themselves, and exercise retrain when interfacing with the Police.” the statement added.
In the video released by the police, the woman could be seen holding one of the police officers by the shirt. She alleged that the officer stole her child’s phone when he came in to arrest her.
