AFCON Qualifiers: Omeruo backs Super Eagles to redeem battered image

 By David Kabiyesi

Super Eagles and Leganes defender, Kenneth Omeruo has backed his teammates to return to winning ways when Nigeria faces Guinea-Bissau in the reverse fixture of 2023 AFCON qualifiers slated for Bissau, iwitnesslive.com can report.

Super Eagles fell to an embarrassing 1-0 defeat to The Wild Dogs in Abuja last Friday despite its embarrassment of talents on display, but Omeruo is confident their host will be paid back in their coins at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro this evening.

“In our meeting, we also addressed that issue because obviously, the team was lucky to come out with a win against us.

“Possession-wise we dominated the game and we missed a lot of chances. Tomorrow the boys know what the mission is.

“We are not coming here to just play and draw, we are coming here to try to get the goals.

“We were unlucky the first game because we missed a lot of chances but tomorrow we are coming to fight for everything, we are not coming to joke tomorrow,” Omeruo said on Sunday.
