 Exclusive By David Kabiyesi

Word was rife in Abuja that National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Capon di tutti,  MC Oluomo could face a travel ban from US and UK after its Consulates in Nigeria compiled data of 2023 electoral violence perpetrators.

An inside source revealed that he could be first in the pecking order of compiled names for aiding and abetting violence during the just concluded gubernatorial and State Assembly Elections.

Oluomo’s comments were said he is determined to embrace violence if the election did not go in favor of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is considered as violence speech by both countries.

Besides, there were alleged threats to the lives of Igbos in Lagos days before the elections after which scores were killed in different polling boots across Lagos on election day as hoodlums maimed voters and carted away ballot boxes.

In a statement released by Andrew Mitchell MP, the UK Minister of State for Development and Africa on March 22, 2023, electoral violence perpetrators could be in for stiffer sanctions this time around.

“We can confirm that we are collating relevant information, to take action against some individuals.

“We witnessed and received credible reports from other observer missions and civil society organizations of vote buying and voter intimidation, the destruction and hijacking of election materials, and the general disruption of the process in numerous states including Lagos, Enugu, and Rivers.

“In addition, we observed incidents of harassment of journalists. Freedom of speech and a free press is crucial for a healthy democracy, and journalists must be able to go about their work without being threatened.” the UK government said.
