The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Abba Kabir Yusuf, as the winner of the Kano state gubernatorial election.
INEC Returning Officer in the state : Professor Ahmad Doko Ibrahim, announced that , Yusuf polled
1,019,602 to defeat Nasir Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress who recorded 890,705 votes
The APC returned has been ruling in Kano since 2015 but the emergence of the NNPP in the state powered by the former Governor Rabiu Kwankwanso unseated the party.
