Mind your business, stop interfering in Lagos politics, Tinubu’s campaign spokesman warns Igbo

A spokesperson for the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, has said 2023 should be the last time the Igbos would interfere in the politics of Lagos State.

Onanuga who made the remarks in a tweet via his official Twitter account, @aonanuga1956 Saturday night insisted that Lagos is like any other state in Nigeria which belong to the indigenous people in those places.

He said Lagos belongs to the Yoruba people and shouldn’t be referred to as ‘no man’s land’.

He said, “Let 2023 be the last time of Igbo interference in Lagos politics. Let there be no repeat in 2027. Lagos is like Anambra, Imo, any Nigerian state. It is not No Man’s Land, not Federal Capital Territory. It is Yoruba land. Mind your business.”

Iwitnesslive had reported that the buildup to Saturday’s governorship elections had been characterised by ethnic slurs noticeable especially on social media which culminated in violence during the election proper with many Igbos resident in Lagos alleging they were attacked.

A former governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba, earlier urged citizens of “Igbo extract” in Lagos against making the election a tribal issue.
