The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has expressed its readiness to conduct the governorship and House of Assembly election in Sokoto State.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting with the leadership of political parties, the National Commissioner in charge of the elections in Sokoto State, Major General Modibo Alkali (retd.), reassured leaders that the commission under his watch will ensure a hitch-free election.
Alkali reaffirmed that the commission has concluded its reconfiguration work on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System machine for the polls.
He said INEC will not tolerate anyone who goes against the electoral act during the election.
“I have the mandate to ensure whoever causes problems during the election no matter how highly placed such a person is will be arrested.
“After such a person is arrested, he will be paraded before the public and thereafter taken to Abuja to be handed over to the IGP for prosecution.”
