A passenger in the train that crushed a BRT bus conveying staff of the Lagos State government in Ikeja, Lagos on Thursday has recounted how the unfortunate accident happened.
The passenger, a male, said the accident would have been avoided had the driver of the BRT bus who was in a hurry to cross the railway track, tarried awhile.
“Our train left Agbado heading to Oshodi: the accident was an avoidable one, it shouldn’t have happened if the driver had waited for the train to pass but he was in a hurry to move. The driver of the train honked his horn right from Ikeja under the bridge till he got to where the incident occurred at the level crossing. That BRT bus driver has got questions to answer but unfortunately, he escaped unhurt, and he is nowhere, to be found,” the passengers who did not give out his name said.
The train dragged the BRT bus from level crossing at PWD to Shogunle, where it eventually stopped.
Two persons were confirmed dead in the accident.
