Senator Ali Ndume has attributed the low voter turnout of electorates during the last Saturday presidential election to recent Boko Haram attacks in Gwoza, Borno State.
The senator representing Borno South senatorial district said the attacks mostly the one recorded on election day prevented many voters from casting their ballots.
According Ndume, only about 20,000 out of the 137,000 registered voters in his ward voted in the last Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.
He appreciated the confidence bestowed on him by the people for electing him for the fourth consecutive time to represent them. He promised that he will continue to attract and sustain the delivery of dividends of democracy.
He said, “We have 137,000 registered voters in the Gwoza council area, but less than 20,000 voted.”
