Elections commenced pretty late in many parts of the country including the Federal Capital Territory, Edo and Borno states because of the late arrival of election materials at polling units, Iwitnesslive can report.
Voters were seen trooping out in many parts of these states to cast their votes but were left frustrated by the late arrival of the officials of the Independent Electoral Commission.
As of 8 pm, many ad-hoc staff of INEC were still seen at the Gada Nasko Registration Area Centers (RAC) where some of the materials were kept overnight, waiting for vehicles to convey them to their various polling units.
Iwitnesslive observed that the vehicles were not enough as they made several trips to take ad-hoc staff to various polling units which caused the delay in the commencement of the voting process.
A similar situation is noticed in Benin City, the capital of Edo State where voting was yet to start in many parts of the area as of 10 am as voters were seen hanging around in places like Ring Road.
