Feelers reaching iwitnesslive.com from Helsinki, Finland confirmed that controversial Nigerian separatist and agitator, Simon Ekpa, was arrested this afternoon by Finnish security operatives in Lahti.
Finland news outlet HS reported that a handful of police officers were seen leading Ekpa out of his home in Lahti today.
Criminal Investigator, Tommi Reen, from the Central Criminal Police told HS news outlet Keskusrikospoliisi (KRP), that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) searched Ekpa’s apartment and was taken away for questioning.
Although the HS news outlet had gone to keep an interview appointment with the separatists but was shocked when Finland police, KRP picked up Ekpa’s call when the news outlet put a call through to the Nigerian.
Ekpa is on the wanted lists of Nigerian governments for his anti-government outbursts and hate speech towards Buhari’s administration.
He had threatened the Nigerian government and incited IPOB to hit the government where it pinches. This may have triggered a close watch on him by the Finnish government.
Although details are still sketchy at the time of filing this report, it is still unclear if Interpol is working with the Nigerian government to repatriate Ekpa.
