Oshoala, others unhappy with tactics as pressure mounts on NFF to fire Waldrum

An iwitnesslive.com investigation into why Asisat Oshoala is staying away from Super Falcon matches lately may not be unconnected with elementary tactics adopted by coach Randy Waldrum since he took over the reign in October 2020.

iwitnesslive.com gather from a decent source close to Asisat that the Barcelona ladies striker alongside some of her senior colleagues in Falcons had raised questions about the coach’s tactics, which they claimed deny players the freedom of expression and Waldrum’s failure to embrace high-pressing football.

While Oshoala is always willing to serve her fatherland at all time, she has found herself struggling to adapt to Waldrum’s tactics which is miles apart from modern trend of women football.

Indeed, Oshoala had stayed away from the team to watch the first-leg Europa Cup clash between Manchester United and Barcelona while the Super Falcons feature in an invitational tourney in far-away Mexico

” I can tell you some senior players in Falcon have their reservations about Waldrum’s tactics. You know most of these girls play under world-class managers abroad. That is why Oshoala will prioritize Barca ahead of Falcons because the girl has not been performing well under Waldrum,” he said.

Meanwhile, pressure has been mounting on the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) to do away with the American. iwitnesslive.com scooped that some top board members are visibly worried as Super Falcons continue to slide down the ladder under Waldrum, but the cash-strapped soccer-governing body lacks the financial muscle to pay off Waldrum.
