All things being equal, the duo of Kenneth Omeruo and Sadiq Umar may have been ruled out of next month’s 2024 AFCON qualifiers’ double-headed clash against Guinea Bissau.
The two-legged clash will see Super Eagles host their West African neighbours in Abuja on March 24 while the return leg is billed for Morocco five days later.
But coach Jose Peseiro is set to prosecute the clash without Real Sociedad forward, Sadiq Umar who has been ruled out of action for the rest of the season due to injury.
As for central defender, Kenneth Omeruo, the Leganes strongman recently got injured and club doctors are working around the clock to ensure he returns to action ahead of schedule. Whether the former Chelsea loanee would have the required number of club games to attain full fitness ahead of Super Eagles clash remains to be seen.
Peseiro will be banking on the duo of Kevin Akpoguma and Troost Ekong to keep opposing strikers at bay. Nigeria needs four maximum points to guarantee their place in Cote d’Ivoire next January.
