We didn’t raid, discover N400bn in Tinubu’s house, says EFCC

he Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has debunked reports suggesting that it carried out a raid on the premises of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and recovered N400 billion.

Rumours were rife that a whopping N400 billion of new naira notes were recovered from the house of the former Lagos State Governor but the anti-graft agency in a press statement on Sunday shot down the rumour, insisting it never carried out such an operation let alone discover the humongous amount.

Following reports that the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, raided the home of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and recovered N400 billion, the commission on Sunday denied the reports.

“The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to a report circulating in the social media, claiming that operatives of the Commission raided the home of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, standard-bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming presidential elections and recovered a humongous sum of N400billion.

“The Commission wishes to state that no such operation was carried out by the EFCC. The public is enjoined to disregard the report as fake news,” the Head, Media & Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren of the commission said in a press statement.
