Beninois FA order Rohr to resume duty on February 21

By David Kabiyesi

Determined to hit the ground running when AFCON 2023 qualifiers resume next month, the Benin Republic Football Federation (BFA) has mandated its newly appointed national team technical adviser, Gernot Rohr to arrive in Cotonou on February 23, iwitnesslive.com can report.

French football handle www.girondins4ever.com reported that the former Super Eagles gaffer has also been mandated to improve the fortune of Squurrels and ensure Benin qualifies for AFCON 2023.

Rohr is faced with the daunting task of turning the table in their group after Squirrels lost their opening group qualifier to defending champions, Teranga Lions of Senegal by 3-1, while Mozambique also compounded Benin’s woes by beating them in Cotonou.

It remains to be seen how Gernot intends to turn things around in the remaining qualifier barely one month to match Day 3 of AFCON 2023 qualifiers.

The Franco-German gaffer was shown the exit door by Nigetia Football Federation (NFF) one month before AFCON 2022 in Cameroon.
