More sticks for Chidozie Awaziem as form plummets

By David Kabiyesi

It is certainly not the best of time for out-of-favour Super Eagles defender, Chidozie Awaziem as he struggles to hit top form at Hajduk Split, iwitnesslive.com can report.

According to www.slobodnadalmacija.hr, the former Leganes central defender is currently suffering from dip in form after his presence helped steadied the ship at the back when the club was sinking deep into relegation morass. Indeed, his sterling performance prompted club supporters to plead with Hajduk chieftains to cough-out 2millions euros buy-out clause in his contract with Boavista.

But all of that is in the past as the former Leganes center-back seems to have lost the spark, committing elementary errors that cost the club dearly. His gaffe against Rijeka sent tongues wagging after he nonchalantly handled the club in the box in a match the home team was cruising with a 1-0 lead.

Awaziem has also come under a barrage of criticism for his tackling which has not gone down well with referees in the league. There were times when his career-ending tackles would warrant a carcass only for referees to ignore them and dish out yellow cards instead.

The Super Eagles star seems to be more effective in the attack than in keeping opposing strikers at bay. Awaziem has four goals to his credit, while his defensive ability has dropped drastically.

It remains to be seen how the Nigerian intends to regain his top form to attract attention from Super Eagles gaffer, Jose Peseiro
