Excitement As Okpebholo Flags Off Road Construction In Edo Central

Excitement and jubilation filled the air as Senator Monday Okpebholo, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), launched the construction of the 6km Onewa – Uwessan road in Edo Central Senatorial District over the weekend.

This road, bridging Esan North East and Esan Central local government areas, will interconnect six communities, fostering economic growth upon its completion.

Speaking to the enthusiastic crowd gathered to witness this historic event, Senator Monday Okpebholo shared the personal significance of the road, recounting how it served as one of his primary paths during his youth when he engaged in hawking to sustain himself.

Expressing dismay over the neglect of the road by previous administrations, Okpebholo emphasized the transformative potential of its completion. He highlighted its role in facilitating the transportation of agricultural produce to markets, thereby enhancing economic opportunities for the communities.

Additionally, Okpebholo underscored the road’s importance in bolstering security, as its accessibility would deter criminal activities such as kidnapping within the region.

Assuring the community members of completion within record time, Sen.  Okpebholo said: “We want to assure you that this road will be completed within 4 months. Before the rains start in earnest, and before the elections, we would have completed this road.

“With this road constructed, kidnapping on the route will be drastically reduced. Our people will be able to harvest their products and take them to the market to sell and make a profit for themselves. No more wastage.”

Appreciating the senator for his thoughtfulness and remembering the community, an elder of one of the communities, Mr Solomon Okunbor said the Rowe before now was impassable which makes it almost impossible to relate with people from neighbouring communities.
