The head of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Buba Marwa, highlighted that the agency’s enhanced forensic laboratory stands as a crucial step towards improving operational standards and maximizing performance.
Marwa emphasized this during the unveiling of the refurbished laboratory in Lagos, acknowledging the upgrade facilitated by the United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
He underscored the significance of the upgraded forensic facility in bolstering the NDLEA’s efforts to combat substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking across Nigeria.
“With this facility, NDLEA is anticipating the provision of state-of-the-art analytical equipment, which will enhance optimal performance in line with standard operational laboratory procedures and best practices.
“This in turn will enhance evidence-based analytical processes in our forensic analysis.
“The project was facilitated by INL and implemented by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, UNODC,” he said.
