Dr. Samuel Ortom, the former Governor, has urged the populace of Benue State to unite and extend their support to Hyacinth Alia for a successful tenure. This statement was relayed via Ortom’s Media Aide, Mr. Terver Akase, on Wednesday in Makurdi.
Ortom’s remarks were in response to the Supreme Court’s decision confirming Hyacinth Alia as the State Governor. He stressed the necessity for people to set aside party affiliations and come together for the advancement and growth of the state.
“The legal contest that ensued following the 2023 elections was fundamental in deepening our democratic values and principles.
“It is a reflection of the vibrant nature of our democracy and a demonstration of the rule of law at work.
“Now that Alia’s election has been affirmed, it is time for all of us to wish him well as he leads the state,” Ortom said.
Drawing from his own experience leading the state previously, Ortom emphasized the challenges of governing and highlighted the importance of the populace’s support and collaboration with the officeholder.
He concluded by extending well-wishes to Alia, hoping for his good health and a successful tenure.
