Agric Perm Sec Charges Directors On Innovative Ideas To Drive Reforms

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Ernest Umakhihe, has urged directors and heads of reform coordination within the ministry to employ innovative strategies in driving reforms aimed at revitalizing the civil service for enhanced productivity.

Speaking during the bi-monthly consultative meeting with the directors in Abuja, Umakhihe also encouraged them to work diligently towards ensuring consistency in the implementation of services, with the goal of achieving world-class standards.

This meeting serves as a platform for exchanging experiences and generating new ideas among the directors, contributing to the emergence of fresh and innovative approaches that enhance service delivery and overall productivity across the organization.

The permanent secretary noted that the department has been restructured to focus on executing the ongoing reform initiatives, including the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP-25). This framework serves as a means to facilitate the transformation of the Federal Civil Service, promoting effective and efficient service delivery.

Represented by the director, of reforms coordination services improvement and innovation, Dr  Dunoma Umar Ahmed, he said, “For critical review and reward the ministry is now focused on innovation to change the work environment and promote better, faster and more accessible service delivery on a sustainable basis.
 
I would like to assure you that the Ministry is committed to improving the existing welfare packages to better the lives of officers to enable them to achieve the ministry’s mandate”.
