Those seeking the end of Jose Peseiro’s reign as the gaffer that will bark out orders to Super Eagles stars from touchline at the forthcoming African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire may have to wait if revelations from FA boss, Ibrahim Musa Gusau is anything to go by.
Peseiro was highly tipped to step-down as Super Eagles gaffer after his contract expired last month, but NFF is weighing a contract extension given the fact that the Glass House is broke at the moment.
iwitnesslive.com decent source revealed that with several unpaid bonuses hanging on it’s neck, NFF is reconsidering his earlier plan to show the Portuguease the door since there is no money to hire a new technical adviser.
Besides, NFF ‘s hand are tied at the moment after some his chieftains argued that sacking Peseiro four months to AFCON would set the team three steps backward.
” NFF have swallowed its pride and are willing renegotiate with Peseiro to continue at least till the end of AFCON,” iwitnesslive impeccable source revealed.
This was also confirmed by NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau on Tuesday when he said that the country’s soccer governing body is eager to sort out issues sorrounding the coach’s contract soo.
“Well, we are still on it and very soon, by the grace of God, Nigerians will hear the voice of the Federation, as far as the coach is concerned,” Gusau said.
“As you know next month, on the 10th of September, we shall have the last match of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers (AFCON) against Sao Tome and Principe.
“His contract is supposed to end by the end of July. By the grace of God, very soon, Nigerians will know the position, because we are still talking with him and his lawyers, on that issue.”
“Obviously, everything will be concluded, before that time. We hope to conclude very soon and a decision will be made based on the recommendations of the technical committee.” Gusau said on Mitchel Obi Sports Salsa.
