18-yr-Old Girl Raped To Death In Taraba

In a tragic incident, an 18-year-old girl identified as Miss Wassa Joel Tuwa from Yoro local government area of Taraba state lost her life to a brutal act of rape by unidentified individuals. The appalling incident occurred along a bush path near Rankaviri village, close to Jalingo, the capital of Taraba state.

A family source, Mr. Ayuba Solomon Bissa, shared the heart-wrenching details, revealing that Miss Tuwa was mercilessly gang-raped and subsequently murdered, with her lifeless body discarded behind a rock near Jalingo.

According to Ayuba, the young victim had left her family house in Jalingo to visit Lankavirir, a nearby village, on Saturday evening. In an attempt to take a shorter route, she ventured through a small market road around Lankaviri, where she tragically encountered her assailants and fell victim to the heinous crime.

Medical autopsy reports have confirmed the gruesome nature of the incident, revealing that the victim was subjected to a vicious gang rape before her life was tragically cut short.

“My younger sister (Wassa), left our family house here along Bishop’s Coat in Jalingo to the village in Lankavirir on Saturday, she could not reach the village nor return to Jalingo.

“Until Sunday morning, when a little boy who was hawking firewood discovered her dead body by the roadside and ran back to inform his parents of what he saw. Both the boy’s parents and other residents moved to the scene and discovered her lifeless body beside the road, close to a mountain.

“We did not touch her body, we invited the security personnel operating in the area to see and advise on what to do. The security men, comprised of military and police personnel, came and advised us to convey the corpse to the mortuary and allow for a security investigation.

“We took the corpse to the Federal Medical Center Jalingo and the doctor, after conducting the needed test, confirmed to us that the victim was gang-raped before she was killed.

“I wish to appeal to the security operatives to deepen their investigation so that the perpetrators would be brought to justice,“ Ayuba narrated.

When contacted for confirmation, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Taraba State Command, Usman Abubakar, said the command had yet to get details of the incident.
