Tinubu, accompany with Six Other Govs Head To Benin Republic Today

Today, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will graciously accept an invitation to attend the 63rd independence anniversary of the Republic of Benin, and he won’t be traveling alone.

Accompanying him on this significant trip are six state governors: Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq of Kwara, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, and Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger.

As the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), President Tinubu was honored with a special guest invitation by President Patrice Talon of Benin.

Their cordial relations date back to their first meeting on the sidelines of the summit on the New Global Financing Pact in Paris, France. Subsequently, they crossed paths again at the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS in Guinea-Bissau.

Recently, President Talon, accompanied by leaders from three other West African nations, extended a personal invitation to President Tinubu during a gathering at the State House in Abuja.

During their interactions, President Tinubu highlighted the importance of reevaluating and strengthening the cultural, trade, and economic ties between their respective nations. In particular, he emphasized the significance of joint border patrols by the Customs and harmonizing regulations on the frontlines to enhance cooperation and mutual benefits.

As President Tinubu attends the Republic of Benin’s independence anniversary, the stage is set for further diplomatic engagement, fostering amicable relations, and advancing regional cooperation in West Africa.
