The traditional head of Orsu Obodo Community in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, HRH Eze Victor Ijioma, was assassinated by unidentified gunmen.
In the same Oguta LGA, gunmen also murdered Isama of Mgbele, the Mgbele community’s traditional prime minister.
The two guys were reportedly killed on May 25, 2023, in separate attacks in two distinct towns.
The Orsu Obodo monarch was killed inside his car at Umuamaka Junction in the nearby town of Izombe, according to local sources.
The report added that after killing him, the assailants lit his corpse ablaze inside his car.
The Mgbele village chief was assassinated there.
Another local source claims that in order to catch the murderers, military and other security officers have increased their presence in Izombe, Mgbele, and the surrounding communities.
“The Eze Igwe of Orsu Obodo was reportedly accosted when he was driving at Umuakama Junction in the afternoon. They shot him, lit him on fire in his car, and then they fled the scene,” the source said.
“Soldiers and other security personnel are actively searching the villages for the attackers as I speak to you.”
