Osun Guber Shows APC Defeat Is Possible – RNM

The Reset Nigeria Movement (RNM) has said the reelection of Governor Ademola Adeleke in last Saturday’s Osun governorship election has shown the defeat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027 is possible.

The movement in a statement by its National Coordinator Osi Iwenekhai, said the outcome of the election is therefore bigger than Osun.

“It has shown that when citizens remain resolute and refuse to surrender their convictions, the power of the people can prevail over even the most formidable political establishment,” the movement said.

The RNM stated that it is convinced that with the lessons from Osun, Nigerians would elect a president of their choice in 2027, and called on Nigerians to resolute, informed and courageous.

“Let us choose leaders who represent our aspirations, defend the interests of the people and possess the capacity, competence and character to move Nigeria forward.

“Osun has shown what is possible when the people stand their ground.

“In 2027, Nigerians must stand even stronger. The will of the people must prevail,” the movement added

According to the movement, the outcome of the Osun election was a reminder that democracy belongs to the people.

“It reminds us that Nigerians must never lose faith in their ability to determine the direction of their country through their votes and convictions.

“Above all, it is a reminder that the most powerful tool in the hands of Nigerians is their vote,” RNM stated.

It called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in their convictions and exercise their democratic rights without fear, intimidation or manipulation.

“Nigerians must be free to choose the leaders they believe can best serve their interests.

“Leadership must be earned through the trust of the people and sustained through accountability, competence and a genuine commitment to public service.

“Nigerians must therefore remain vigilant against every attempt to undermine their political choices and remain courageous in standing for the Nigeria they believe is possible,” the Movement said.

It commended Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde the solidarity demonstrated, not about winning elections, but also “standing for democratic principles when doing so is difficult.”

The Reset Movement noted Governor Makinde’s steadfast support, which it said, reflected the importance of loyalty, courage and solidarity in democratic politics, as well as his belief in the people’s mandate and their right to freely determine who governs them.

“We remember Governor Makinde profound statement that ‘the 2027 election won’t be PDP versus APC; it would be Nigerians versus APC.’

“In this round of the fight, Nigerians won,'” RNM stated.
