The Federal Capital Territory ( FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike has again defended President Bola Tinubu’s infrastructure drive at Abuja’s rural communities, saying that it was a deliberate effort to boost economic activities.
Wike disclosed this on Wednesday after inspecting road projects at Karu, Karshi, Bwari and Kubwa respectively.
He stated that from the inception of the present administration, Tinubu has remained committed to ensuring that people both in urban and rural areas get a new lease of life through improved basic infrastructure.
Wike also affirmed that with the quantity and quality of projects that Tinubu is providing in FCT, opposition parties will struggle in vain to get votes and won’t be able to defeat the President.
According to him, with the road projects in rural communities, life will become easier for the dwellers, while they are also empowered to contribute to the development of the country.
“First of all, see, if you are only concentrated in the city, the rural communities are part of Abuja, so they should also change their lives. They should also have their economic activities.
“And, like I said before, when the president was inaugurated, he appointed us. One of the things he said is that there’s an over-concentration of development in the city, you have to go down to the satellite towns. That alone will help to discourage urban migration and rural-urban drift.
“It is very difficult for anybody to win an election in the FCT against Mr. President. Because to them, it’s surprising what they have seen. They’ve not seen it in their life. I’m sure that’s what I can say”, he said.
