Barely 96 hours after the emergence of Governor Ademola Adeleke as the flag-bearer of Accord Party for the forthcoming gubernatorial election, a factional leadership has elected Clement Bamigbola as its governorship candidate.
The incumbent Governor of the state, Adeleke had on Wednesday emerged as the candidate of the party as a sole aspirant, however, a faction of the party rejected him stating that Barrister Maxwell Ngbudem is not legally backed National Chairman of the party.
In a fresh twist, on Sunday, 300 delegates of Accord Party across Osun State elected Bamigbola as the factional party candidate during the exercise held at Regina Suite, Osogbo.
Bamigbola emerged from a voice vote by the delegates after which the Chairman of Primary Committee, Hon Olufemi Ogundare pronounced him elected as the candidate of the party for 2026 Osun State governorship election.
Subsequently, Ogundare and other party leaders presented the flag of the party to Bamigbola for 2026 contest.
