Fuji music legend, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has issued a heartfelt and unreserved apology to Nigerians, the federal authorities, and aviation stakeholders over the recent incident that occurred at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
In a statement personally signed by him, the veteran musician admitted that while the situation was unfortunate and clearly misunderstood, he takes full responsibility for any concern or controversy it may have caused.
“I acknowledge and deeply regret the concerns that arose from the incident,” K1 stated. “It was never my intention to cause any disruption or violate aviation protocols in any way. I sincerely apologise for how things played out.”
His apology was directed not just at ValueJet Airlines, with whom he had a misunderstanding, but also to the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, FAAN, NCAA, and the entire Nigerian public, especially his teeming fans across the world. He said that the reputation he has built over decades is crucial to him, and he would never knowingly do anything to bring disrepute to himself or the country he so passionately represents.
“I would never do anything to tarnish the image I’ve built over the past five decades, nor would I knowingly act in a way that could diminish the reputation of the country I love so dearly,” he wrote.
K1 clarified that the flask he was carrying—wrongly alleged to have contained alcohol—was filled with only water at the lounge, as he suffers from chronic dehydration, a condition his doctors have asked him to manage carefully.
“I tender my unreserved and heartfelt apology,” the statement.
