Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria, has narrowly escaped a plane crash after one of the aircraft’s engines failed mid-air.
This was revealed in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a user, @ChuksEricE.
In the video, Wike could be seen recounting the frightening experience, explaining how the incident unfolded during his trip to Lagos.
According to him, his wife had earlier traveled to Lagos to bring their daughter back and landed at the Air Force Base.
Wike decided to fly to Lagos to meet someone important that same day.
He boarded a plane from Port Harcourt intending to arrive in Lagos shortly.
However, just 15 minutes after takeoff, things took a dramatic turn. “My wife went to Lagos to bring my daughter, they landed at the Air Force Base. I was waiting, so I said let me go to the Air Force Base. When they land, I’ll just enter a plane and go to Lagos,” he narrated.
He continued, “Fifteen minutes after takeoff, the air hostess was running. I asked what the problem was. She came back and told us one engine is gone.”
Despite the scare, Wike confirmed that the pilot managed the situation well by diverting the flight and safely landing back in Port Harcourt instead of proceeding to Lagos.
The revelation has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with many Nigerians flooding the comment section of the post to express concern and relief over the minister’s safety.
