Finidi George, head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, has resigned from his position two days after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced plans to hire a foreign technical adviser.
A source close to Finidi informed Sports Village Square that he submitted his resignation letter to Ibrahim Gusau “30 minutes ago.”
According to the source, Finidi was upset that the NFF leadership met with the sports minister two days prior without addressing key issues, such as players arriving late to camp and the lack of effort to mobilize Nigerian supporters in Côte d’Ivoire for the Super Eagles’ match against Benin Republic last Monday.
“He complained that the NFF placed all the blame on him,” the source added.
Attempts to contact NFF officials for confirmation went unanswered.
