Tiwa Savage Frustrated by Competitive Comparisons with Female Artists

Musician Tiwa Savage Voices Frustration Over Continuous Comparison with Other Female Artists by Ardent Fans

She asserted that enthusiastic fans often pit her against every emerging female artist, suggesting they were vying for her “throne.”

The ‘Water & Garri’ star emphasized her stance on befriending rising female artists, emphasizing that music isn’t about competition.

Tiwa Savage shared her sentiments in a recent BET interview.

She said, “Fans always try to pit me against other female artists. Any new female artist that comes up, they would be like, ‘Yo, she is coming to take her throne.’

“And I would go out of my way to make friends with them [new female artists] because it is not a competition. The real competition is the male artists. I was happy that Tyla, a female artist won the maiden Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys over the male nominees.”
