President Bola Tinubu has responded to the passing of his Iranian counterpart, Ebrahim Raisi, who tragically died in a helicopter crash on Sunday.

Earlier reports indicated that a helicopter carrying President Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was involved in a hard landing during a visit to a northern region.

Both individuals were confirmed deceased by local media outlets.

In his reaction, Tinubu, through a statement issued on Monday by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, conveyed his condolences to the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

President Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the heartbreaking tragedy and lauded President Raisi as a leader dedicated to Iran’s progress.

Offering sympathy to the grieving families, President Tinubu prayed for the enduring peace, stability, and prosperity of the Iranian nation.
