Abia LG Health Workers To Receive FG CONHESS Scale

Like their counterparts in the State, local government health workers in Abia State are to be paid the federal government salary scale of Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS).

The Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu disclosed this to journalists in Umuahia, saying the approval is part of the ongoing reforms in the State civil service.

“The approval,” according to Kanu, “makes Abia one of the few States in the country that pays the federal government CONHESS,” in line with governments commitment to prioritize workers’ welfare.

He also revealed that 52 renovated and equipped primary health care, PHCs, centers, would be functionalized soon to bring the total to 102, saying the remaining 98 PHCs would be fully renovated and equipped before the end of the year.

Also, “50 or more out of the 79 World Bank Impact PHCs will be fully renovated and equipped before year-end,” the Commissioner declared.
