Outsourcing and technology service specialist, VFS Global, has issued a cautionary advisory to Nigerian visa applicants, urging them to beware of fraudulent agents posing as representatives of the company. These impostors, often referred to as touts, are misleading applicants and falsely claiming to be affiliated with VFS Global.
In a statement obtained by our correspondent on Saturday, the Head of Sub-Saharan Africa for VFS Global, Mr. Alok Singhal, stressed the importance of vigilance when dealing with intermediaries. He noted that the surge in travel activity, which began in 2022, has continued into 2024, with travel data indicating promising growth.
Singhal highlighted that outbound travel from Nigeria has rebounded to pre-pandemic levels, with the most common travel purposes being tourism, family visits, education, and business trips.
Regarding visa application rejections, Singhal explained that the most frequent reason for denial is the submission of incorrect or incomplete information during the application process. He emphasized the need for applicants to ensure accuracy and thoroughness when applying for visas.
“It is important to check the respective country websites by visiting our website under the document checklist section. The optional form-filling service offered at an additional cost for some locations could ensure the correct information is updated.”
