Ekiti Spends ₦100M on Medical Bills for 105 Citizens

The Ekiti State Government has allocated N100 million in financial assistance to 105 beneficiaries for the treatment of various medical conditions. 

Dr. Oyebanji Filani, the Commissioner for Health, announced the disbursement in Ado Ekiti on Friday. He explained that the support aims to help recipients cover their medical expenses and ensure they receive the necessary care.

Filani said, “The medical conditions covered included treatment of kidney and cancer, appendectomies and cataract surgeries as well as fibroids removals.

“The assistance covers those who are currently undergoing treatment or about to undergo treatment, persons with specific treatments that are available within the state or outside the state.”

Dr. Oyebanji Filani expressed gratitude to Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, for approving the N100 million disbursement and for consistently supporting the masses. He encouraged beneficiaries to stay positive and follow medical advice for a swift recovery, reaffirming the state government’s dedication to delivering quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare to all citizens.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Mrs. Olusola Gbenga-Igotun, highlighted that the government recognizes the financial challenges faced by many due to ill health and is providing this medical financial assistance to alleviate the burden. She urged Ekiti residents to prioritize their health through regular exercise and proper nutrition.

One of the beneficiaries, Chief Babatunde Ayowale, expressed heartfelt thanks to the governor for prioritizing their health and well-being.
