Tinubu Presents Minimum Wage Bill to House, Seeks Speedy Passage

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted the Minimum Wage bill to the House of Representatives for consideration and enactment into law.

The bill aims to legalize the N70,000 minimum wage recently agreed upon by Organized Labour, the Organized Private Sector, and the government after prolonged negotiations.

The President’s letter, read on the House floor on Tuesday, outlines provisions for a new national minimum wage and the legal framework for its implementation.

He urged lawmakers to expedite the passage of the bill to ensure immediate benefits for Nigerian workers.

Additionally, the President requested an amendment to the Nigeria Police Act, in line with Section 58 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). The proposed amendment addresses the appointment and tenure of the Inspector General of Police.
