Gospel star Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, have provided full scholarships to 100 undergraduates at the University of Calabar through their Mercyisblessed Foundation.
The couple announced this generous initiative during their visit to the university on July 12, 2024, bringing great joy to the students. The scholarships cover all tuition fees and offer additional support to ensure the academic stability of deserving students facing financial difficulties.
Mercy Chinwo highlighted that this contribution is her way of giving back to the community that supported her throughout her journey.
She said: “Port Harcourt is home to me any day. The memories are fresh of a city where I dared to dream and hope for a purposeful life. I thank the Lord for His work in me and through me so far. The scholarship is to inspire students that their dreams and ambitions are valid and not to give up because there is a God who has ‘Excess Love’.”
It was learned that the scholarship takes effect immediately, and the selection criteria and modalities for identifying eligible candidates will be communicated through the appropriate channels.
In addition to the University of Calabar scholarships, Mercy Chinwo had previously awarded scholarships to 50 students at the University of Port Harcourt in April.
