The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 general election, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has congratulated Nigerians on the celebration of 25th anniversary of democratic rule.
In a post on his official X account, @Pres_Adebayo said: “I congratulate President @officialABAT and all Nigerians on the quarter century anniversary of return to Civil Rule.
“Few thought we would make it this far but here we are! I had hoped that I would have been President for a year today.
“Hardship is much but we have choices and time, as long as we preserve the democratisation process and show patriotism and nationalism.
“I congratulate @OfficialAPCNg on their 9th consecutive years in power and remind them that they were once in opposition and will return to the opposition in future, hence need to play fair.
“I pray for the peace and security of Nigeria and I salute public officials who are giving their best to Nigeria.
“It is clear that we have not made the best of our opportunities and must choose better from the polling units to the State Houses and Aso Villa. We are not helpless.
“At a minimum, we must choose a President and leaders who believe in the Constitution and faithfully implementing it, especially Chapter 2 Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy so that we abolish poverty and insecurity, not slavery and squalor now foisted.”
